Mainsoft: Bringing Google Docs into Outlook

June 3, 2010 | Robert Scoble

Are you stuck using Microsoft Outlook for email, but want a better way to share documents and collaborate with your coworkers?

Harmony by Mainsoft brings the cloud to the desktop by incorporating a free sidebar within Outlook. Attachments are replaced with links, so that regardless of the software they’re running, an email recipient can always open the relevant document.

In this interview, Mainsoft’s CEO, Yaacov Cohen, talks about integration points between Outlook and Google docs and the steps his company is taking to bring the cloud to email users everywhere.

Great idea, I’ll put it on my work computer tomorrow!

Question: does this work with Google Apps for Education? Or does it only work with a regular Google account?

Sure, Harmony works great with both Google Apps and Google Apps for Education accounts!

I love this concept! Getting the best of best worlds was a part of interesting discussion I had last week regrading “should we move to one platform” – MS office or Gmail. I said no, I love both worlds and each one has it own benefits and strength. I did not want to lose either of them. I will add this video to my blog and introduce the concepts in my next business meeting. Great work!
