TED is quickly becoming the most recognizable event brand in the world with TED Talks on the web and TEDx conferences in dozens of cities around the world and here, June Cohen, executive producer of TED, gives me a tour and talks to me about the various initiatives that TED is involved in. You can see TED conference videos and news on ted.com.
This video is long — 40 minutes — but you’ll gain key insights into how TED does its work and you’ll meet key people behind its projects and hear about how huge a success the TEDx event series has been and how they manage these independently-produced events. In just about a year they’ve had 1,000 TEDx events planned or held in 80 countries, 43% of which aren’t in English.
What’s fun is this tour was unplanned and off the cuff.
Oh, and in the video you’ll hear that TED is hosted on Rackspace (building43 is owned by Rackspace, and run by Rackspace employees) and you’ll hear what June thinks of Rackspace.
