How to Get Funded or Get Acquired

April 13, 2010 | Michelle Greer

A lot of people in the startup community would just assume never worry about the finance or marketing aspects of software.  They would rather spend their energies creating an elegant and useful application and let someone else worry about the money part.

For these types of startups, we put together a panel for the web professionals group Refresh Austin entitled “How to Get Funded or Get Acquired.”  In this video, you can learn how to get the money you need to finance your project or sell when the time is right.

Everyone on this panel has either received funding for, have funded, have acquired, or have been acquired as startups.  They include:

Joshua Baer, CEO and Founder of OtherInbox
Bill Boebel, CTO of the Email and Apps Division, Rackspace
Jason Cohen, Founder of Smart Bear Software
Pat Condon, Cofounder of Rackspace
Jim Curry, VP of Corporate Development at Rackspace

The panel is moderated by Michelle Greer, Senior Manager of Developer Outreach at Rackspace.

We would like to offer our sincere thanks to all of our panelists for taking the time to share their experiences and to Alex Jones at Refresh Austin for coordinating this meetup.
