Dasient: the Only Tool You Need to Protect Your Site Against Malware

February 25, 2010 | Robert Scoble

It’s easy to get excited about real-time analytics tools or plugins that increase your traffic.  Security tools don’t really get exciting until you’ve spent two days trying to track down malicious code that has infected your website, making it completely useless.

It used to be that only large websites were affected by hackers.  Now these criminals are increasingly attacking small and medium sized businesses.  40 percent of those affected are attacked again within three months.

Shariq Rizvi and Neil Daswani used to tackle security issues at Google. Together with former McKinsey consultant Ameet Ranadive, they decided to found the company Dasient in 2008 after recognizing that malware targets were becoming more and more diversified each year.  Dasient will not only notify you when your website has been compromised and show you the malicious code-it also offers a risk assessment report telling you every possible outlet for future breeches.  Webmasters can be more proactive in protecting themselves from hackers.

Pricing isn’t exactly cheap.  Dasient starts at around $100 per site, with pricing increasing for larger sites.  It’s a small price to pay for some when you consider both the short-term and long-term risks of being attacked.
