Altus offers video-search answers

January 5, 2010 | Robert Scoble

The Altus Corp. offers companies searchable information databases drawn from a variety of formats — but with a major focus on video — used in training, conferences and day-to-day operations.

A company’s varied information types can be merged and managed through Altus’ software as a service (SaaS) infrastructure to cut costs for conferences and improve training options, Altus founder and CEO Ted Cocheu says in this building43 video interview.

“We’re agnostic as to the source of the video or the file format or the medium,” Cocheu says.

The services provided by the Campbell, Calif., company are particularly attractive to technology leaders such as Cisco Systems, Inc. — Altus’ first client when it was established, he says. But its customer list is not limited to large enterprise operations, says Cocheu.

The company’s Web site calls it a “leading provider of video search and management solutions for sales enablement, learning and knowledge transfer.”

Altus’ COO Sebastian Grady offers a quick demonstration in the video of the type of search possible in the Web-based databases and how information can be merged.
