Lijit is an established social media search company that helps blog publishers enhance user search capabilities for a site.
The Boulder, Colo., company’s client base has grown steadily as its repuation spread and it added new features, says Todd Vernon, founder and CEO of Lijit Networks, Inc.
The network-based index search application for blog publishers allows readers to search sites for a particular subject on the blog as well as in the bookmarks, blogroll, social network sites and links to other blogs with similar information, says Vernon in this video interview.
“Inherently, we’re network-based . . . which makes your blog the place to come to find information that people think you know about,” Vernon says.
He points out that people in the Boulder area looking for information on venture capitalists check his blog for his thoughts as well as for links to other information sources because they know he has expertise in the subject.
The effect of Lijit’s blog-based site search capabilities is to increase traffic and the amount of time people spend on a site, he says.
The three-year-old company has nearly 11,000 individual publishers, commercial Web sites and content networks, according to a Sept. 9 press release.
And, with $11 million in financing, Vernon says, the company is well-situated for continued growth.
