TidyTweet, software that filters spam and unwanted users from live Twitter streams, was named best new Twitter application during the Developer Launchpad session at the recent 140 | The Twitter Conference in Los Angeles, Calif.
The application helps companies and brands customize and moderate their Twitter streams so that what appears on their site isn’t marred by inappropriate, annoying or offensive spam.
After watching demonstrations for seven new applications, a panel of judges chose TidyTweet as the overall best new Twitter application at the conference.
In the video, Kenny Tomlin, founder and CEO of Rockfish Interactive, talks with Rackspace Hosting’s SSE At-Large, Robert J. Taylor, about why his firm developed TidyTweet. “Everyone is frustrated with spam on Twitter, and we built a solution to help companies manage that,” Tomlin said.
Rockfish Interactive is a digital agency based in northwest Arkansas. It counts Wal-Mart and Proctor & Gamble among its clients.
The TidyTweet application gives companies an array of filters and moderation controls, so they can decide which Twitters should appear, and they can choose to manually or auto-approve Tweets in the feed.
“TidyTweet makes Twitter more safe for business,” Tomlin said.
Tomlin says 500 companies already have signed up for TidyTweet, which is in open beta.
