Building43 visited the 140 | The Twitter Conference LA organized by The Parnassus Group in Los Angeles, Calif., where the how-tos of Twitter and its tools for business development were discussed.
The conference brought together the worlds of business and celebrity and focused on getting the most out of the real-time web.
Curt Smith, co-founder and lead singer for Tears for Fears, appeared with five others on the Music Panel: Lessons From Engaged Artists, on the first afternoon of the two-day conference in mid-September.
Smith, who has sold more than 22 million records, talked to Michael Sean Wright about his experience using Twitter in finding collaborators and reconnecting with his world-wide audience.
The music industry continues to experience seismic shifts in business models and even the most established artists are having to adopt new tools to stay ahead of the change, Smith says.
Twitter and social media remove the buffer between musicians and fans, Smith says in this interview with Wright, a documentary filmmaker and founder of nicefishfilms.
