The Zappos core value isn’t just about Twittering

June 10, 2009 | building43

Zappos asks each new employee to tweet at least a few times. Why? Because each employee is empowered to be the voice of Zappos, which is a billion-dollar shoe and clothing seller on the Web. We wanted to find out what else Zappos is doing differently, so a bunch of Rackspace employees came to Zappos and took a tour to find out more. After the tour Rackspace’s chairman, Graham Weston, sat down with Zappos CEO, Tony Hsieh and Robert Scoble. Hsieh challenges other businesses to think about their core values and the culture that they are building. What is the one value that he thinks trips up corporate cultures? Hear his answer, it might surprise you. He also talks about his ideas about advertising and how Zappos uses advertising. Toward the end of the interview he also talks about what a modern business web site should do.
