Robert Scoble likes to tell people that the name building43 came from Google and from Microsoft – both of which happen to have a building numbered “43.”
We started this project in April, after the big SXSW event where we announced building43.
I don’t think it is entirely coincidental that a building in Oregon was starting to be dismantled at the same time.That building? Yep – Building 43!
And after managing the construction of our building43, I also don’t think it is a coincidence that the Oregon Building 43 was a mental-health facility. You really have to be a little crazy to launch something that you expect others to help you define, and build, and populate with content – all gratis. But it takes a community to change the world – one helpful video, or blog post at a time.
